33 Weeks

33 Weeks! The countdown is 15 days. 15 days! Time has flown. It's hard to believe that this has gone by so fast. I can't say how excited we are. Adalyn has been moving around a lot and it is just so neat to see my belly change shape with her movements. It is so crazy! Sometimes I am just amazed by everything.

I am now having to go to the hospital twice a week for non-stress tests. This just means that they put monitors on my belly and watch her heart rate. She's been rocking at these so it is comforting. They also do an ultrasound a week to check the amniotic fluid. So far so good! I usually go on Mondays and Thursdays and will continue up until she is born March 15. That is if that is for sure going to be the date! We won't know for sure until her test results come back March 14.

Right now I am just trying to get everything done. Work is just piling up and I feel like when I put a small dent in it somehow it piles right back again. But I know that it will eventually get done. Same thing with Adalyn's room. It will get done! One day...

For now I am perfectly content eating a Buster Bar (yum yum) and blogging. A great way to spend a Sunday evening with my very active baby girl.

Love

Love love loooooooooooove. Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and I can't help but think of love. God's love especially! Isn't it amazing how much He loves us? Without His love for us we would be lost. He loves us so much that He gave us Jesus. That is love that I can't comprehend.

So I wanted to share some verses with you. The first being John 3:16. For those of you who do not know, Alyssa was born at 3:16 pm. Not only is it an awesome verse but Jamie and I couldn't help but think of this verse after she was born. It gave us comfort during her stay in the NICU. "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails
... 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7

Happy Valentine's Day!

31 Weeks

31 weeks! 31 weeks!!! Adalyn has been moving around a lot. We have 5 weeks left to go and I have so much to do! I am very excited for the next few weeks. This Saturday we have a 3d ultrasound. I wasn't going to do another one but Jamie (proud father that he is) has been pretty insistent to see his baby girl again before she is born. It is so cute to see how excited he is. He has a countdown on his phone and lets me know how many days we have left.

I am in nesting mode and feel like cleaning everything. The only problem is that the times that I want to clean (the time that I have the most energy) is at work. So I end up cleaning my desk throughout the day. I want to organize everything but then by the time I get home I am completely exhausted. But I've been trying to do a little before I go to bed and Jamie has been helping out.

The one big thing I want to do? Get her room together! Her crib and dresser won't be ready to pick up until the first week of March. I can't wait to put them together!

29 Weeks

This past week has been a whirlwind of emotion for me. Emotional is an accurate word to describe me at the present time. But I don't want to be! So I've been fighting it, which makes it worse honestly. Kind of like the elephant in the room it is just there, hanging out. Waiting to pounce - ok maybe trample. Elephants don't pounce.

But! Once again I am truly amazed by my Lord and Savior. I will get to why but let me back up just a little. I help out with Awana and one of the lessons was talking about how we are to be filled with the Spirit. It explained that one of the ways to do this is to know and obey God's word. And I realized that I read God's word but do I truly know His word? Yes and no.

So my challenge is this...For 30 days I've given up TV - my main distractor these days since I am completely exhausted. I found a book called "100 Bible Verses Everyone Should Know By Heart". If you know me, I am a structure kind of girl. I like plans, I like things laid out and this book is perfect! So my goal is 100 verses in 30 days. Right now I'm on day 7 and it is fun! I've learned so much in 7 days and although it is a HUGE challenge with pregnancy brain at times, it is a million times better to do than watch TV.

So back to where I was...sitting in a room with my emotions. And then this morning during my devotional time one of the verses I memorized this morning is
"Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me." John 14:1 I realized that I was allowing my emotions to control me. I've been so consumed with trouble - Alyssa, the foundation, finding a new place to live, work...I mean this elephant was getting bigger and bigger. And then this verse. It's amazing how something so simple - one verse - can lift the weight of everything and restore peace.

So. 29 weeks. I am filled with joy and hope. Not trouble. I think back to Alyssa and I am filled with gratitude. Nothing is accidental. Believe in God for He loves you and is in control.

28 Weeks

28 Weeks! Adalyn is moving more and gaining weight! It's so different and it's those differences that make me so very thankful. It is hard though - I can't help but think of Alyssa. The other day had me sobbing and I'm at the point now where if I even start crying it's hard to stop. And it continues throughout the day. I haven't been emotional my whole pregnancy and it seems to be hitting full force. That and craving for slushes from Dairy Queen.

The other day I went and registered! Talk about fun times! I was reluctant to do so - I don't want to seem like I'm asking for too much. But a good friend encouraged me to do it and I'm glad I did. Even if we don't get a single thing off the registry, it was still fun! And it made me soooooooooo excited for March to come. I got some too cute outfits for Addie. She will be one cutesy dressed little girl! 8 weeks to go!

26 Weeks...Almost

It's been awhile but I have been super busy! I've started to get crazy about nesting. One day I spent almost the entire day sorting through things and you know what? It only made a bigger mess which made me obsess about it even more! Now I'm back to work and all I want to do is organize and clean the classroom. I know I have time but I just want to have everything in order for her and to make things easier in March. Is it crazy that I have made list after list detailing what needs to be done? I just can't wait to cross everything off!

Other things that I am obsessing about are entirely baby-related. What crib? What stroller? Is that safe? Look, I am trying to not become a crazy pregnant lady. But I am finding out that it is easier said than done! There are so many decisions to make and time is ticking.

In Adalyn news...She is moving around more and more. She is a night owl! She doesn't move around much during the day but once 10:00 hits she goes kung-fu crazy. We have another ultrasound Friday and I am excited! I always look forward to seeing her and seeing her get bigger and bigger. I am so thankful that this pregnancy has been worry-free (for the most part!) Pictures will come soon!

22 Weeks

22 weeks! I can't praise God enough. I feel Adalyn move and it brings me such joy inside - I can't describe just how I feel. She is becoming more and more of a night owl. It's comforting that she is so active but hard to sleep! People tell me that she is just preparing me for what is to come! Thank goodness I will have 6 weeks off of work.

Our next appointment is next Thursday. I can't wait to see her and find out how much she has grown. Pretty soon she will weigh a pound. Crazy to think that she will weigh as much as what Alyssa weighed when she was born. So many bittersweet milestones.

Only 14 weeks left!
