Ok so it has been awhile. But my world now revolves around cooking, cleaning, and taking care of my 12 week baby girl! I'm still trying to figure out a schedule for everything that works. It is definitely a learning process! I feel all domestic - and a part of me is truly enjoying it! We are moving soon which also takes up a lot of time. I feel a little overwhelmed because we are moving cross-country. The sad thing is that we have to find people to take our cats. Jamie is getting deployed and I will most likely move in with my sister or grandparents.
Adalyn is now 14 pounds! Every time we go to the doctor, I am shocked at how much she has grown. She is now 24 inches! I can't believe she is almost 3 months. 3 months! Time truly flies. She loves to kick her legs and look around. She smiles so much and now she is squealing and laughing. It brings such joy when I hear her laugh. She loves taking a bath and spending time in her bouncy chair. She just kicks and stares at her turtle friend!
I have a lot of pictures to upload but have not been able to! I am going through closets and trying to figure out what goes with us and what will be given away! It's sad to think that we are leaving our family here. We have met some amazing people. It makes me sad just thinking about it! Well I have to go! Adalyn is asleep and that is my time to get things done around here!

Week 4
My little girl is a month old! It's crazy to think that a month ago she was born. It's also crazy to think that this week would have been the week she was born.
My parents were still in town and we went to Springfield, Lake of the Ozarks, and St. Louis. A lot of driving and time spent in the car. The good thing is that Addy did really well in her car seat. She spent a lot of time in it. I felt really bad about it but all she did was sleep.
We were out a lot. It's crazy how people just come up wanting to see her and touch her. It's nice in a small way but the whole touching thing...I don't mind if people we know touch her but perfect strangers? I wouldn't go up to someone's baby and just try to touch its face or hands. I guess what they say about babies being community property is true.
It was nice to have extra hands! Addy has had a lot of gas lately which means that we have had some very long nights. I feel so bad for her. I bought gas drops and have been trying to give them to her when I feed her at night. That is usually when it is the worst. If she doesn't have gas then she is having a growth spurt. Which means that she is hungry every hour. So sleep has been pretty rare for me. But with extra people! Man! I got 2 sometimes 3 hour stretches!
Week 4 Developments
1. Addy has found her voice and is not afraid to use it! She now has a very high pitched scream which started during this week.
2. She is somewhat of a drama queen. If you do something she doesn't agree with she lets you know. See #1.
3. She loves to have baths! Can't wait for her to be able to play in the bath but that will be a few more months.
4. She hates to get dressed. If you try to get her dressed she will let you know that she hates it. See #1 and #2.

The awesome event this week? Addy got to meet her Papa Dos (my dad)! I have pictures but have not been able to download them. It was great to see my dad with her. My dad didn't get to see Alyssa so it was such a special moment to see them together.
We also had Addy dedicated. Her godfather made a really awesome video. The songs made me cry. It was just so awesome to stand in front of our church and dedicate her. I want us to follow God's instructions and share His love with her. I hope and pray that she will love Him and follow Him. Week 2
We spent 48 hours in the hospital during our second week. The doctor told us that if she has a fever of 100.4 that we would need to go in. Her temperature kept going up and when it reached 100.3 we all (my mom, sister, Jamie and I) thought we should go in. Lesson learned - We will wait the next time. For those of you who do not know what happens when you take an infant to the ER with a possible fever here is what they do...
They gave Addy an IV. Then they had to run tests to include a urine test, blood tests, and X-Ray. Thank goodness they did not do a spinal tap. I felt like the worst mom ever. They had to stick her three times to get the IV and I absolutely hated that she had to go through that.
The worst part? She didn't have a fever when we got there and she didn't have a fever the entire time we were in the ER. They admitted her to the hospital as a precaution for 48 hours. The good news is that even though we had to spend 48 long hours at the hospital, she was perfectly fine. Now we know.
We had her 2 week check up and Little Miss weighs 6.12!! I was shocked. I expected a couple of ounces. When we were discharged (the second time) she weighed 6.4. So she gained that much from Sunday to Thursday! Her appetite is crazy. I'm having to supplement her with formula because she is wanting to eat! Looks like we won't be in newborn or preemie diapers too much longer! :)
Week 2 Wrap Up:

2. Jamie is a super dad! I knew that too but I am just thankful that he is so hands on.
3. I am entertained by the way she sleeps. She falls asleep in the cutest ways.

The majority of Adalyn's first week was spent in the hospital. Her doctor said that she was borderline preemie so they kept her an extra day to keep an eye on her. Then her bilirubin levels were high which kept her in the hospital another day. She had to stay under the lights for 24 hours.
We were discharged from the hospital Saturday in the afternoon. It's amazing how you go to the hospital with one bag and end up leaving with a shopping cart full! Yes in the front is Chewbacca. Her Godfather gave that to her. I added the hot pink bow - just to girly him up. It makes Chewbacca noises which is pretty funny. I don't think Adalyn really knows what to make of it. She looks really confused when she sees it.
Jamie picked out Adalyn's going home outfit from Janie and Jack. So cute! But so big! We were expecting her to be bigger so we didn't buy a lot of newborn clothes. I thought her outfit would be a little big but not to the point where she was swimming in it! Here is one of my favorite pictures. Ready to go home! Well, almost...
We still had to get her into her car seat. Jamie and his friend spent a few minutes fixing the straps. Then we were ready to go home!
It was funny how Jamie drove 10 under the speed limit. I suppose I would have done the same! When we got home, Jamie accidentally set off his alarm but this didn't even phase her! We gave her a bath and then did an impromptu photo shoot. I really wanted to see what she would look like with all her cute accessories!
Here are some things I learned the first week:
1. Addy still loves to have her hands by her face. This picture was not staged at all!

Adalyn Marie Rutherford
Ok so it has been awhile. But I have a good excuse! I am going to try to continue to do weekly updates with pictures. I am going to get caught up on the last 2 weeks! Crazy! Two weeks already!
As most of you know, Adalyn's birthday was planned. Because of my emergency c-section with Alyssa, we had to have Adalyn 4 weeks early. So March 15 was the scheduled day. As long as the amnio test came back with good results.
We went into the hospital at 5:30. Early! I was exhausted because I stayed up until around 2 and woke up at 4. My mom and sister came in the night before and we stayed up looking at all the cute clothes they brought her! She is totally set on clothes until she is 6!
My doctor did the amnio around 6:30. It wasn't too painful. The only horrible part was that the sample was too bloody and they couldn't test it. We found out about this around 9. The lab sent the sample to another lab but they said that the results wouldn't be ready until the next day after 12. By this time I was starving and ready to eat - especially if we couldn't have her that day.
Then it turned out that the other lab could not perform the test either. My doctor came in and said that our options were to perform the c-section the following Monday (on the 21st) or check to see if I was dilated. He said that even if I was a little dilated, that was justification for performing the surgery that day.
Let me tell you...Checking to see if I was dilated was the most painful part of the day. But! I was a little dilated and then all of a sudden people were in the room moving and prepping me for surgery. I have to admit I was really nervous once everything was in motion. Here is a picture of Jamie and I before they took me back.
Once they took me back, I got a spinal. I was really anxious about this because my last experience with this was pretty difficult. But the anesthesiologist was awesome and got it on the first try! After that everything happened pretty quickly. My mom and Jamie were both there.
At 2:36 Adalyn Marie Rutherford was born. I didn't get to see her right away but I could hear her crying. After they cleaned her up and did all the stuff they had to do, I was finally able to see her.
I had to go to recovery after that and I was there for a really long time. Too long! But once I got there, I got to hold her. It makes me want to cry even now.
Here are 3 facts about our beautiful little girl.
1. Adalyn weighed 6.5 lbs.
2. She was measured at 21 1/4 in. long but that turns out to be wrong! Turns out she is really 20 1/2 in. long.
3. Dr. Murphy and Dr. Skinner delivered her. Two of my favorite doctors!

35 Weeks
3 days people. That is the countdown. It is so crazy that it is 3 days until Adalyn is here.
My doctor recommended to take it easy (not bed rest!). I've been really stressed with work and he recommended no more work. It's been nice not having to work but it's what I love! However, it has been nice to put my feet up and not worry about the stress of work. I've been able to wash her clothes and put them away. We got the dresser and crib and put that together. Her room is 85% done! It makes it that much more real! It's just crazy to think that in 3 days she will be here. Well, hopefully! It all depends on the results of the test they have to do.
I have to go in at 5 in the morning Tuesday. They will do the test and once we get positive results back I will go in for surgery! And then she will be here!!!
My mom and sister will be here Monday. I am so excited to see them! And then one week from today my grandma will be here!
The next time I post Adalyn will be here!!!!
